Never Sinned

with Carl Kerby on 05/20/2013

I’ve been asked a lot of questions recently by high school and college students.  I though I’d share part of one of those conversations.  Here goes: Lisa:  “In the Bible it states the earth was meant to be perfect before Adam sinned and everything...

What’s the royal law?

with Chuck Smith on 05/17/2013

Jesus said, “On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:40). That’s quite a summary statement! What two is He addressing—and what about the other eight? When you love God supremely and when you love your neighbor as yourself, you have...

Passport

with Fred Field on 05/16/2013

As a new believer, songs like “Only visiting this planet” by Larry Norman resonated in my heart.  I don’t think I had ever felt like I belonged anywhere, and society had a habit of spitting people out who were different, who looked different or...

Matthew 10:2-4 “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus,...

Who is my Neighbor?

with Chuck Smith on 05/10/2013

One day a lawyer asked Jesus, “And just who is my neighbor?” As He often did, Jesus responded to this question with a memorable story—more than we bargained for. Since we seem to get the point of stories better than we sometimes grasp abstract concepts,...

God Smites to Heal

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them.
Isaiah 19:22

Some of you are experiencing turmoil right now. Like Egypt, your problems seem to compound one on top of the other, and you are in fear of what can happen next.

Some of you are going through a civil war?the war between the spirit and the flesh. And the flesh is winning. You find yourself doing things that you hate yourself for, but you don't have the power to resist. You feel hopeless. You feel you have been smitten by God.

God sees you doing those things that are harmful and damaging to you. And like a good, loving Father, He chastises you. He does this because you are His own, and He loves you, and He wants you to be healed. He wants to free you from those things that are destroying you. If you don't respond to the chastisement He has already brought, then He will chastise you again?and perhaps more painfully.

If your life is just one grand mess today and you feel you have been under the chastisement of God, you can begin the healing process right now by repenting and returning. Call on His name and He will begin to heal you of the calamity you have brought upon yourself.

Father, we thank You that when we go astray or become involved in destructive things, You don't leave us in the place of misery. In love, You chastise us in order to heal us. Help those who are struggling today.

In Jesus' name, amen.
