What if the Song of Solomon was about more than romance? In Radical Love: A Devotionary through Song of Solomon, Brad Hall helps readers discover the profound invitation woven throughout this often-neglected book of the Bible: an invitation into deeper intimacy with Jesus. Written to encourage believers to worship God in spirit and truth, Radical Love points us to the enduring love of Christ and the joy found in abiding in Him. As Brad prepares to join us as a featured speaker at the CGN International Ministry Conference, we’re delighted to share a glimpse into the heart behind this devotional.
From the Back Cover
In today’s fast-paced instant society, with every gadget vying for our attention, it is difficult—but not impossible—to worship God in spirit and truth. The Holy Spirit desires to draw us into the secret place of intimacy with Jesus, a place where we can let go of the cares of this life, surrender our self-determined efforts, and release our deepest fears … a place where we can worship God in spirit and truth. Radical Love: A Devotionary through Song of Solomon illuminates the path to God’s throne of grace, where you will discover joy and deep fellowship with Jesus so that you might rest in His undying love.
Writing Radical Love
At the end of the introduction, I quote Charles Spurgeon, who referred to the Song of Solomon as “the Holy of Holies of Scripture, of which the veil still hangs to many an untaught believer.” Spurgeon was implying that, because many think of the Song of Solomon as only a romantic story about a king and his bride, the only devotional impact would be pertain to marriage and relationships. As a result, they ignore the book, and many preachers neglect to preach on it. Yet, because the book is divinely inspired, I think there is more to the story, and THAT story needs to be told. It is the story of Christ and His bride.
Updating Radical Love
It was with that in mind that I taught the Song of Solomon on three separate occasions over the span of several years. I was also praying about putting it into book format. I did not tell anyone I was praying about it, not even my wife. Then, at our midweek service, an elderly Hawaiian man walked up to me and said, “Pastor, I think you should write a book.” I knew that was the Holy Spirit telling me to put it into book format. In 2008, the book was published. This past year, I opened the book to read a few excerpts and realized it needed revision.

If you’d like to read more from Brad Hall, be sure to check out his other devotional, An Introduction to Eternity Now: Discovering Eternal Life with Daily Readings Through Philippians.
People often wonder what eternal life is like. What will we do in eternity, and where will we be? Yet when Jesus prayed for His disciples, He gave a clear definition of eternal life: “And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3).
While we often think eternal life begins after we cross the threshold of death, Brad reminds readers that it actually begins when we come to know God. We experience eternal life here and now as we walk with Jesus and grow in our relationship with Him.
Eternity Now is a devotionary, combining daily devotional reflections with commentary through Paul’s letter to the Philippians. Beginning in Philippians 1:1 and moving systematically through all four chapters, the book offers daily inspiration and practical wisdom to help readers discover what it means to experience eternity now.
