Editor’s Note: On November 10, 2025, the Expositors Collective podcast released an episode that we at calvarychapel.com believe will encourage all our readers.

While attending a conference in Germany, Mike Neglia sat down with David Guzik to discuss the now newly released Enduring Word Study Bible. The episode title, “Helping People See Clearly: Why Study Bibles Still Matter,” captures the heart of their conversation. The “people” in that title includes anyone who wants to understand Scripture more deeply, not only pastors and ministry leaders. As David put it, “Good exposition helps people read the Bible better.”

One of the primary goals of studying the Bible is to apply its teachings to our lives. Another is to be equipped to share biblical wisdom with others. David’s long-standing intention with the Enduring Word Commentary, a free online resource for nearly thirty years, is summarized beautifully in this moment from the podcast:

“When you just with clarity and simplicity show them, ‘Look, this is what the Word of God says right in front of you, and this is how it applies to your life,’ they say, ‘Well, I can do that … It’s not as complicated as I thought.’ As much as we can demystify the Bible for our people, the better we do.”

David Guzik spent nine months editing the online commentary for inclusion in the Enduring Word Study Bible. Of note, the entire commentary will continue to be available for free at enduringword.com.

Listening to David describe the value of a study Bible rekindled my own desire to spend more intentional time in Scripture. It is exciting to know that there is now a study Bible with the Enduring Word Commentary built right in, thus making its insights even more accessible. I love knowing that David Guzik’s commentary has helped Mike Neglia prepare sermons for twenty years, and that it has long helped me prepare for conversations with those who come across my path.

The clincher—the moment that convinced me this episode needed to be shared with all our readers—was Mike’s joyful confession to David: “I just love this … I just love reading the Bible.” I do too, Mike. I do too.
