One of the most important aspects of pastoral ministry is counseling.

Pastors Brian Brodersen, Richard Cimino and John Hwang discuss the calling pastors have to give biblical instruction and advice, as it is an opportunity to connect people to the gospel. Brian, Richard and John establish clear definitions and terms that surround the idea of the pastor as a counselor, and much more, on this new episode of ”Things That Matter.”

Brian Brodersen is pastor emeritus of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. He also serves as president of the Calvary Global Network, chancellor of Calvary Chapel Bible College, and co-founder and director of Creation Fest UK. Brian is the featured speaker on the Back to Basics radio program and the co-host of the live call-in program Pastors’ Perspective. Brian holds an M.A. in Ministry and Leadership from Wheaton College. He and his wife, Cheryl, have four children and seven grandchildren and reside in Southern California. Brian and Cheryl lead Echoes of Mercy, a new ministry focused on encouraging believers through teaching, writing, and media, building on decades of pastoral and discipleship experience.

Richard Cimino is the Director of Worship and Men's Ministry Pastor at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in California. Prior to this, he spent eight years as the High School Pastor at CCCM and thirteen years as lead and teaching pastor at CC Grass Valley (Crossroads Community Church). Richard then started a Bible study in Roseville, as an outreach of CC Grass Valley, which became what is now Metro Calvary.

John Hwang serves at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa as a teaching pastor and the director of the Pastors School.
